Part-Time Preschool
Our traditional 2 ½ hour preschool classes are for 3 and 5-year olds. The teachers strive to prepare each child socially, spiritually and academically to enter kindergarten. Socialization and learning to respect friends are large part of each class and important life lessons. Some of the academic concepts focused on are: literacy, name recognition, letter and number recognition, counting, colors, shapes, patterning, sequencing, print concepts, fine motor and gross motor activities, and much more.
A typical day in our classes consists of Bible time, guided and spontaneous free play, group activities, outdoor play, snack and circle time with stories, lessons, and songs. For specific 3’s classes, there is integration with children from Excentia* (see below).
*Excentia (formerly S. June Smith): We are very blessed to work closely with the staff of Excentia at our school. The preschoolers who attend Excentia have special needs. We believe that integrating the two programs benefits all the children; those with special needs and those who are typically developing. Children develop a sense of caring, leadership, and an appreciation of likenesses and differences. This program has fostered a true sense of belonging and great friendships.
