The Beginning

The St. Mark’s Community Center began as a dream in 2022 to utilize our available classroom space and to connect in a new way with the community. At the heart of the Community Center is our intention to provide a place for individuals or groups to gather, host events, hold meetings, celebrate birthdays, retirements, and much, much more. Our Community Center offers adult classroom space, large group gathering spaces, quiet study areas, and additional spaces for rent. It is our deep desire to use the space that God has provided us in ways that encourage and strengthen our ties to the community. It is our hope that as the Community Center grows, that you partner alongside us, neighbor to neighbor.

The Present

 The Community Center is now hosts to such groups as:

  • Anniversary Parties
  • Girl Scout Troops
  • Birthday Parties
  • Homeowners Associations
  • AA Groups
  • Mount Joy Boro Meetings
  • Community Garage Sale

Just to name a few!

The Future

 The Community Center’s future is something that we are very excited about! Our vision for the Community Center is that it becomes a hub of activity in downtown Mount Joy. While renting spaces is a critical first step in this dream, and one that we look forward to continuing, it is our hope that one day soon we will be able to host some or all of the following:

  • ESL and Sign Language Classes
  • Finance Classes
  • Parenting Classes
  • Fitness and Wellness Classes
  • Mount Joy Community Choir
  • Various Recovery Groups
  • Tutoring Groups
  • Game Night Groups
  • Bingo!
  • Widow Support Group

This dream is not one that we as St. Mark’s will be able to accomplish on our own. We cannot wait to partner with those in the Mount Joy community with a heart, passion, and desire to create a shared space where people can come to learn, grow, and connect. If you are interested in hosting or teaching a class, creating a community group, or even starting a Mount Joy Community Choir, we would love to talk to you.
